About Joanne

I am the proud owner of JC Bookkeeping & Accounts.  I am an experienced ICB licenced and certified bookkeeper with over 25 years experience, currently working within the accounting profession dealing SMEs, Sole Traders, Charities & Not For Profits, offering Bookkeeping, VAT, Payroll, year end accounts & corporation tax and self assessment along with many other ad hoc services.

I started working in bookkeeping in 1995 when I became a parent. My job involved collecting money for a small Mother and Toddler group. It was during this time that I developed a passion for bookkeeping and accounts.

As time went on, I pursued a career in the manufacturing industry, working with various companies. My responsibilities included handling day-to-day bookkeeping tasks and month-end procedures. Alongside my work, I also earned a degree in Computer Systems Studies.

Throughout my career, I always had a desire to further my bookkeeping skills and become officially recognised and qualified. However, the right opportunity never came along. After working with single companies for many years, I decided to expand my knowledge and experience. I was seeking a new challenge and found that the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) was the right fit for me.

Fast forward to 2021, and I started my own bookkeeping practice, utilising the skills I had gained over the past 25 years. I now help sole traders, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), not-for-profit organisations, and charities with their financial tasks. By taking care of their bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and accounts, I relieve them of stress and free up their valuable time to focus on growing and succeeding in their businesses. I also assist them in choosing the right software and provide support and guidance along the way.

I specialise in working with charities and not-for-profit organizations, which often involves using SORP reporting and fund accounting. Additionally, I assist in establishing financial governance, which helps organisations secure grant funding.

As a fully licensed and insured ICB Bookkeeper, I operate under the regulations of the Anti-Money Laundering Regulations 2017. I have Professional Indemnity Insurance that covers all the work I carry out.

I am qualified to Level 4 in Bookkeeping & Accounts. I am also proficient in using Sage 50 computerised accounting and payroll software such as BrightPay, Sage Payroll, and other payroll software. Moreover, I have extensive experience with cloud accounting packages like Sage, FreeAgent, QuickBooks, and Xero. I am a QuickBooks Advanced ProAdvisor and a Xero Certified Advisor.

In 2020, I was honoured to be nominated by the ICB for the Luca Student of the Year Award, recognizing my hard work during my studies. I have also been featured in articles published by my training provider, Training Link, as well as PQ Magazine and the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, which I am extremely proud of.
